Description
EnviroScience is looking to hire a seasonal Timber Rattlesnake Construction Biomonitor from approximately April 15 to October 15. Start and end dates are negotiable. The position may involve working at multiple sites in Pennsylvania throughout the season. Hotel lodging will be paid by EnviroScience, and meals and incidentals per diem will be paid at GSA rates. Applicants may be expected to utilize a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursed at the GSA rate. Occasional technician-level work on other EnviroScience field projects may be possible. Responsibilities include: * Working on an active construction site to clear work areas of Timber Rattlesnakes prior to the start of construction activities each day and proactively searching the site throughout the workday. * The biomonitor will capture and move any rattlesnakes that may interfere with work activities while adhering to scientific collector permit conditions. * The biomonitor is expected to work independently and maintain excellent professional relationships with construction contractors and client representatives and EnviroScience managers. * Construction schedules may demand that the biomonitor is on-site for 10-12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week. * The biomonitor will be required to wear site-specific personal protective equipment (PPE), potentially including hard hat, safety-toe boots, safety glasses, reflective vest, and flame resistant clothing. * Ability to support client and agency permitting needs during all project processes. * Other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications

Other qualifications include: * Must hold, have held, or be able to acquire a Type 3 Scientific Collector Permit for Timber Rattlesnake Construction Monitoring issued by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission * Adequate computer skills for completing daily reports (Word, Excel, etc.) * Ability to travel overnight for extended periods * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently * The candidate must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. * A background check is required. Some clients may require drug screening.
Additional Beneficial Skills: * Previous experience in construction biomonitoring * Additional background in fisheries, endangered species, herpetology, or amphibians.
