Job Description

Position Responsibilities: In a high-volume, highly selective admissions and financial aid office, the successful candidate will:

Conduct financial aid need analysis used to determine eligibility for assistance. Review and analyze complex financial documents, including federal taxes, special tax schedules, corporate returns, and financial aid forms so that funding is appropriately allocated. Assist with the administration of our endowed scholarship selection process. Coordinate survey distribution and organize data to facilitate our matching process. Work collaboratively with our Development Office to ensure they have the information and data required for the donor stewardship process. Assist with the selection of our merit scholarship recipients. Read and evaluate scholarship essays. Serve on various scholarship selection committees. Make recommendations to the Assistant Dean for Financial Aid and Scholarship Committees on which candidates should be selected for scholarships. Assist with the management of the financial aid and scholarship email accounts. Keep prospective students informed about the status of their financial aid applications and scholarship selections. Assist with the data entry process for grants and scholarships. Update various databases necessary for reporting and financial aid disbursement. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications should clearly indicate those that are required and those that are preferred.)A B.A./B.S. required; two to three years of experience in financial aid or three to five years of related experience, preferably in an educational or customer service environment. Ability to work with culturally diverse constituencies; outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex financial information to sophisticated constituents; working knowledge of data processing programs and the aptitude to learn new systems, ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy in a highly confidential and professional setting; ability to handle multiple tasks, to work independently, and to work collaboratively in an office that is characterized by high student expectations, a high volume of applications and visitors, and deadline pressure; working knowledge of university systems or similar databases preferred.
