Job Title: Shipping Lead
Job Summary: The Shipping Lead at FreezPak Logistics is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping department, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of goods. This role involves coordinating with various teams, supervising shipping staff, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of shipping associates, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Delegate tasks and monitor the progress to ensure timely completion of shipping activities.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Shipping Operations:
- Coordinate and oversee the preparation, packaging, and shipment of orders.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock for shipping purposes.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of outgoing shipments to ensure adherence to quality standards and customer requirements.
- Identify and resolve any issues related to shipping, such as damaged goods, incorrect shipments, or delays.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Work closely with the logistics team to schedule and arrange transportation for outgoing shipments.
- Communicate with carriers and freight companies to negotiate rates and track shipments.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods to customers and address any transportation issues that arise.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all shipping activities, including shipment details, inventory levels, and discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on shipping performance, productivity, and any issues encountered.
- Utilize shipping software and systems to track and manage shipments efficiently.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies related to shipping operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for shipping staff.
- Implement and enforce best practices for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
- Customer Service:
- Respond to customer inquiries and concerns related to shipping in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve any shipping-related issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a shipping or logistics role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
Working Conditions:
- This position involves working in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
- May involve working evening or weekend shifts, depending on shipping schedules.
