Job Description

This dedicated writer will be responsible for the conception and execution of innovative print and digital materials designed to educate healthcare professionals and patients on our client’s pharmaceutical reimbursement program. Must have strong writing skills with experience translating complex concepts into well-crafted, easy-to-understand content. This person will be responsible for helping to shape the tactical execution of our client’s program and offering unique solutions to challenges. This person will also be responsible for contributing to tactical recommendations that align to brand strategies and client business objectives.

ABOUT THE SCIENTIFIC TEAM

Here at the Medical team, we are the academics of the agency and the power of science flows through every decision. Our expertise in various therapeutic areas is foundational to building the business and enhancing the quality of our colleagues’ work. We know that proven science and accurate data are the foundations to impactful strategy, brand story, and content. Our influence goes beyond the agency too—clients, stakeholders, and the Medical/Legal/Regulatory review (MLR) team look to us for insights and guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop high quality, scientifically rigorous content that is in line with brand strategy and objectives, while adhering to referencing requirements, American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines, FDA rules and regulations, established timelines, and internal processes

  • Collaborate with creative, strategy, and account teams to research, write, and/or edit original educational content (e.g., Websites, educational booklets, flashcards, conference booths, videos, speaker presentations, leave behinds) in distinct healthcare categories, ensuring quality of work, scientific validity, medical accuracy and integrity, and clinical applicability

  • Research and secure references to ensure accuracy of medical/scientific statements and brand claims; organize reference libraries and annotate content per account-specific referencing guidelines

  • Fact-check and annotate initial round of jobs and subsequent rounds as necessary (has the ability to understand scientific and medical data to ensure that copy accurately represents the source from which it was taken)

  • Attend internal meetings (eg, status, kick off, internal review), medical/legal/regulatory review meetings, and client meetings as needed

  • Help manage scientific/writing needs for live client meetings (virtual or travel on site when possible)

  • Able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills with team members, faculty, clients, and partner agencies

  • Present strategic concepts and content executions to the client; manages on-site scientific content presentation for client meetings

  • Work with independence and agility to meet agency deadlines

  • Adheres to project parameters including deadlines, budget, and content limitations

  • Initiates discussions with the account team regarding any potential barriers to successful project completion that may arise (deadline, hours, budget, etc.) and suggest solutions that address client and Razorfish Health needs.

  • Build skills/is comfortable with speaking during client calls. Additionally, develop rapport with clients over time through demonstration of subject matter knowledge

  • Learn from the mentorship of Scientific Directors, Copy Supervisors; cultivate expertise in assigned therapeutic area(s) and grow to assist as a training resource for freelance or newer employees

  • Work towards enhancing efficiency, nimble learning, team productivity, and scientific/creative quality for all deliverables; opportunities to grow in Medical or Creative department

  • Adhere to all Razorfish Health policies and procedures; understand the role of Medical and Creative within the agency and works to set appropriate expectations and operating norms within the team

Qualifications

  • MD, PharmD or PhD in Life Sciences is required

  • 2+ years of professional experience in medical writing, publishing and/or pharmaceutical experience

  • Experience in CV/cardiologic imaging and/or patient support services/payor/insurance experience is preferred

  • Familiarity with writing in medical advertising, medical communications, and/or journal publication is preferred

  • Able to quickly gain command of new therapeutic areas and disciplines if needed

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret scientific data

  • Able to ensure scientific accuracy by fact-checking all relevant copy

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with limited direction and work within tight deadlines is required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, mastery of English grammar, and ability to collaborate with copywriters, other team members, and clients

  • Familiarity with PubMed, online research mediums, and/or other document delivery systems is preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Open to travel on site to provide medical writing support for live meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. (when possible)
