Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in logistics operations to join our dynamic team. This role requires an individual with robust accounting expertise who can collaborate closely with our customs brokerage and freight operations team to ensure efficient financial processes across supply chain, distribution, and transportation activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting for logistics, ensuring seamless coordination between financial management and operational workflows, helping to drive efficiency and accuracy.

General Accounting Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial transactions, specifically in relation to logistics operations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial record-keeping in compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and industry regulations, particularly within the supply chain and logistics frameworks.

  • Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and resolve discrepancies, with a focus on logistics-related vendors and freight billing.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, journal entries, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate reflection of logistics and transportation costs.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in logistics-related billing, freight charges, and vendor payments.

Operations Collaboration – Logistics Focus:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the accounting department and the logistics/operations teams to ensure accurate financial processing of logistics, transportation, and distribution activities.

  • Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to maintain smooth financial workflows, including billing for shipping, warehousing, freight, and other operational processes.

  • Ensure adherence to finance SOPs for logistics and operational tasks, identifying areas of improvement and streamlining processes to enhance efficiency.

  • Provide guidance and support to the logistics and operations teams on matters such as transportation billing, freight cost allocation, and other logistics-related financial concerns.

  • Address and resolve logistics-specific financial issues, including vendor payments for freight, handling discrepancies in shipping charges, credit card transactions, credits, and invoice reversals related to logistics activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on logistics, supply chain, or transportation operations.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger processes, particularly within a logistics or distribution environment.

  • Proficiency in logistics accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), with experience managing logistics and transportation billing systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, particularly with logistics and supply chain teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, especially in resolving logistics-related financial issues.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, logistics-driven environment.

  • Experience working in a logistics multi-department environment is highly preferred.
