University of Pennsylvania Research Associate - Blair Lab in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, protein analysis, immunoprecipitation, western blot analysis, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and antibody validation. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree with at least three (3) years post-doctoral experience.

Responsibilities will include include running and maintaining both low-resolution and high-resolution mass spectrometers, conducting immunoprecipitation-ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry assays, and quantifying trace amounts of bioactive proteins in blood and tissue samples from animal models and humans.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop innovative ways to analyze bioactive proteins, to publish novel approaches on the use of mass spectrometry for biomarker analysis, acquire expertise in the use of stable isotopes for protein analysis, present results at international scientific meetings, and acquire expertise in monitoring the efficacy of gene therapy.
