Overview

The Metrology Manager will be responsible for leading the daily

activities in the Metrology department. The following captures some of the day to

day activities: managing contractor schedules, coordinating the calibration and

validation of equipment with manufacturing and laboratory personnel, authoring of

validation protocols and reports, administrate the REES, ELPRO, Blue Mountain

systems and fixed assets program, author/approve out of tolerance reports, update

SOP’s and assure compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and train metrology personnel on calibration and validationsactivities, industry regulations, and company standard operating procedures(SOP’s).

• Works in conjunction with outside contractors on the scheduling and performing ofcalibration and/or validation of equipment to meet business goals.

• Conducts critical review of calibration results and creates reports ensuringcompliance with company SOP’s and industry standards e.g. Proficiency Testing.

• Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, InternationalStandards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

• Conduct failure analysis in order to identify the proper root cause and determinethe appropriate corrective action.

• Maintain a master equipment list and ensure that all equipment is properlyoperated and maintained, calibrated, qualified and/or validated.

• Represent the department during client audits, ISO audits, and regulatoryinspections.

• Authors SOP’s, Validation Protocols, and Reports

• Authors, reviews, and approves Non-Conforming Events and Out of Tolerancereports.

• Maintains master on-call services in support of facility operations.

• Collaborate with other staff members on process optimization opportunities.

• Communicates Metrology area needs to Quality Assurance, Facilities, Testing andManufacturing personnel.

• Management of REES and ELPRO (Equipment Monitoring System)

• Management of Blue Mountain

• Crystal Report Creation and Management

• Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognizedeviation from accepted practice is required.

• Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructionson new assignments.

• Accomplishes staff results by communicating updated organizational information,job expectations & supporting their work

• Plans, monitors, and appraises direct reports including performancecompetencies, goals & job results

• Coaches, counsels, and conducts disciplinary actions

• Develops, coordinates, and follows organizational systems, policies, procedures,and follows labor and capacity standards

• Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required

• Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals

• Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, InternationalStandards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required and

• 5+ years relevant technical experience and min 2 years Managing people

• BS/BA in Science related field preferred; or combination of relevant Experience & Education
