RHD's New Start II program located in Northeast Philadelphia is looking for on-call Life Skills Professionals/Recovery Specialists. Compensation is $16.50 per hour.

Position Summary The Life Skills Professional/Recovery Specialist will provide direct supportive care in a residential treatment setting to approximately 16 men challenged with chronic homelessness and substance abuse.

RHD employees and programs in the City of Philadelphia are required to follow the COVID vaccine mandate. Revised PDPH guidance allows for new hires to be partially vaccinated at the time of hire. This means they have received at least one shot in a two-dose series or a single dose in a one-dose series before beginning in-person shifts. The final dose must be received within 8 weeks of hire (start date).  This currently does not include boosters.

Responsibilities/Duties Life Skills and Educational Counseling On Call shift * Chores/House Maintenance * Assist maintaining the physical plant by monitoring and inspecting their household chores. * Model and assist with completing proper program household tasks. * Maintain the program log books daily. * Implement daily program schedule by ensuring task are completed as assigned by Administrative Staff. * Support client safety and apply counseling provisions when needed.

Food and Household Goods * Model and assist with meal planning, and food inventory. * Support with the creation of a grocery-shopping list and shopping as assigned by the Administrative staff. * Support and assist with monitoring of meal preparation. * Support the implementation of the Nutrition Program. * Monitor and supervise with mealtime organization. * Monitor the food and household needs, goods, and program meal budget. * Support and monitor client food and financial contributions to the program. * Manage and support clients with proper food handling, and skills. * Monitor and manage proper storage and safety of all household goods

Medication and Health Management * Support and Collaborate with the Nurses to assist clients with securing prescriptions when needed. * Support with life skills challenges, and concerns i.e, ensure appointments are met and process challenges * Maintain proper safety techniques while managing hazardous materials. * Collect and document urine samples as assigned. * Retrieve and review medication upon delivery and drop offs when needed * Monitor, review, and collaborate with nursing staff upon client self-delivery of mediation to the program.

Educational: * Staff collaboration on client-individualized treatment needs and schedules changes. * Assist in conflict resolution. * Provide crisis intervention. * Participate in Program milieu * Conduct and facilitate, attend and/or assist with educational groups and meetings (e.g., AA, and NA Meeting, Community Meeting) as assigned by Director. * Actively support in socialization and recreational activities during programming.

Program * Document educational groups and any other significant contact. * Conduct, facilitate and document fire drills. * Participate in Team Support Mtgs., Staff Mtgs. and supervision as assigned by Director and Assistant Director * Read daily logs and document in logs at the time of shift and end of each shift. * Complete intake packets and inventory upon every admission into the program and discharge. * Escort clients to appointments and shopping as designed within the program schedule and or according to client treatment plan. * Conduct daily documentation and filing of Sign In logs, Refrigerator logs, Shift logs, and monitoring of clients movement. * Scan and document using EHR (Electronic Health Records) chart as assigned. * Provide emergency coverage * Support in the safety of all * Ensure the program Accountability Schedule is followed * All other assigned task by Director to ensure continuity of care. * Attend scheduled/mandatory training as outlines in CBH, DDAP, and employee's individual training plans * All shifts are awake shifts

Required Experience 2 years preferred D& A experience Personal Recovery/Life Experience accepted

Required Education High School Diploma or G.E.D

Required Qualifications * Proficient in MS Word and web-based email required * Valid Driver's License required * Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends, and holidays

Program Summary New Start II at Jackson Street in Northeast Philadelphia is a long-term residential treatment facility that provides intensive drug and alcohol treatment and mental health support services to chronically homeless males. The program treatment design is an individualized level system, assisting residents in establishing psychosocial supports necessary for independent living. The Recovery Specialist will provide direct supportive care in a residential treatment setting to approximately 16 men challenged with chronic homelessness and substance abuse.
