Description:

Trinity Health Mid Atlantic - Nazareth Hospitalist in Philadelphia has an opportunity for an Internal Medicine, Program Director over the Residency program. Must be board certified in Internal Medicine and licensed in PA or willing to receive PA licensure.

Main duties to include, but not limited to:

Operational

· Works with Designated Institutional Official (DIO), GME and program coordinator to ensure that program meets all requirements for maintaining ACGME accreditation, assuring that graduates will succeed in meeting ACGME core competency requirements

· Prepares and submits all information required and requested by the ACGME, including but not limited to the program information forms and annual program resident updates to the ADS, Annual Institutional Reports and ensure that the information submitted is accurate and complete

· Prepares and submits summary of program action plans as recommended by residency Program Evaluation Committee to DIO for Annual Institutional Review

· Assists DIO with preparing the budget for the residency program

· Manages, with the help of the Associate Program Director, the written curriculum, goals and objectives for off-service rotations

· Ensures compliance with grievance and due process procedures as set forth in the Institutional Policies

· Monitors resident and faculty wellness and develops interventions as needed

· Approves and maintains contact with directors of rotations, as well as monitors resident supervision and experience at all participating rotation sites.

· Helps to oversee the outpatient internal medicine clinic in terms of adherence to ACGME requirements for training of residents

· Implements policies and procedures consistent with the institutional and program requirements for resident duty hours and the working environment, including moonlighting

· Attends GMEC regularly and participates in other GME related activities on an as needed basis to enhance the Clinical Learning Environment of the Sponsoring Institution

Educational

· Provides formal and informal teaching of residents and medical students in hospital and/or clinic

· Oversees and participates in development of didactic, simulation, scholarly, and bedside educational curriculum as needed by the residency program

· Develops curriculum and activities concerning on-boarding and off-boarding of residents and medical students

· Develops strategies to ensure residents perform at the appropriate level pertaining to the in-training examination and board certification examinations

· Provides verification of residency education for all residents, including those who leave the program prior to completion

· Works with other residency programs to enhance interprofessional education and teamwork

Resident Competency Assessments

· Participates in formal and informal feedback as well as semi-annual competency assessments of residents.

· Provides guided mentorship to residents and assist in creation of individualized learning plans.

· Participates in the Clinical Competency Committee and make determinations about resident promotion and remediation

· Participates in creation of formalized coaching, enhanced mentorship, and remediation plans for residents as needed

Recruitment

· Participates in national, regional, local, and branch campus recruitment events as appropriate.

· Reviews applicants during the NRMP MATCH process and oversee interviews.

· Participates in final resident selection through the Match process for the Internal Medicine Program

Faculty Support/Development

· Provides formal and informal mentorship to faculty

· Evaluates program faculty, select appropriate faculty and approve the continued participation of program faculty based on evaluation

· Assists in creation and/or delivery of a faculty development curriculum

· Supports faculty with scholarly endeavors

· Provides ongoing daily support and education to clinical and core faculty

· Works with the Program Directors of other residency programs to create a strong interprofessional working environment between specialties

Research

· Establishes and maintains an environment of inquiry and scholarship with an active research program.

· Coordinates evidence based clinical discussions and journal clubs.

· Works with the research manager to help faculty and residents with publication of original research or review articles in peer reviewed journals, or chapters in textbooks, and publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at local, regional, or national professional and scientific society meetings.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Must include:

· specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience, or qualifications acceptable to the ACGME IM

Review Committee

· current certification in the specialty for which they are the program director by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM) or specialty qualifications that are acceptable to the ACGME IM Review Committee

· current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment;

· must include ongoing clinical activity, but devote a minimum of 50% FTE to non-clinical administration of the program
