Naval Medical Command INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Summary You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST of NMRTC ANNAP DET LEAGUE ISLAND. This announcement uses the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD / Modified Direct Hire Authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Amended to extend announcement until 12/13/2024 Responsibilities You will conduct industrial hygiene surveys of large, highly complex industrial work operations. You will draft reports or portions of reports on industrial hygiene investigations. You will brief management to provide status, updates, or other business information. You will calibrate all field instruments used to conduct sampling within hazardous work environments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with industrial hygiene concepts, principles and practices. Experience recognizing and evaluating complex occupational health hazards. Experience developing plans for control measures, including ventilation, shielding, material substitution, change in work procedures, isolation, education, and personal protective devices. Experience with the use of industrial hygiene sampling techniques and instrumentation. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess. The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene(external link) (ABIH).
