Job Title: Financial Analyst

Department: Emergency Department

Location: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania- 3400 Spruce St

Hours: Full Time Monday-Friday. 8:00AM-4:30PM. Hybrid schedule (in office Monday and Wednesdays; Remote work Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays)

Summary:

  • The Financial Analyst is responsible for processing AP and purchasing requests, CER creation and reconciliation of capital balances and month end close entry preparation with review. The Financial Analyst has a great understanding of the Capital and Operating budgets as it relates to coding.

  • The Financial Analyst mainly communicates with managers and vendors for purchasing.

Accountabilities:

  • Preparation of month end closing entries and review of entries prepared by Corp Finance

  • Ability to provide analysis and Reclass entries for closing

  • Creation of Capital Expenditure Requests

  • Ability to cover other financial analyst and coordinator workload in their absence

  • Processing of RTP’s for capital and routine purchasing

  • Assisting in building the personnel schedule for the budget cycle

  • Processing of invoices

  • Tracking of equipment refresh statistics

Credentials:

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)

  • Accounting/Finance 2+ years experience in accounting/finance field

Additional Information:

The Emergency Department financial analyst is responsible for supporting both the Health System and University finance teams in order to connect both sides of the finance operations and support the team as a whole. The financial analyst has a multi-faceted understanding of the financial needs of the Emergency Department as it relates to both health system functions, as well as university financial needs, such as university accounting systems and entries, as well as reporting on physician grant efforts and tracking SOMD balances.

The financial analyst mainly communicates with finance and admin team members on both the CPUP and University teams.

Additional Accountabilities:

· Ability to post University accounting entries in addition to Health System accounting entries

· Tracking and reporting of University SOMD account spending

· Understanding of physician efforts and ability to create and maintain effort reporting and grant salary costs

· Creation of ad-hoc reports for University and Health System finance needs

· Assist with budget input for both University and Health System finance teams

· Process payroll changes and updates in Workday for University employees

· Analyze and input one-time payment requests as well as bonus and other variable payments

· Use critical thinking and excel skills to propose efficiency changes to existing reports and processes
