The Department of Physical Plant at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Director-Physical Plant to join the team:

Summary of Accountabilities:

• Accountable to develop and implement operation budgets in conjunction with department managers.

• Provide administrative leadership to the department to ensure proper operational and strategic positioning and performance.

• Consults with the Asst. Executive Hospital Director for Facilities to recommend strategic & operational alternatives.

• Directs the department’s focus, priorities and goal setting.

• Accountable for the development of the operating and deferred maintenance budget.

• Assure compliance with all inspecting and regulatory agencies.

• Provide mentoring, role modeling and instruction to managers and supervisors in the department.

• Assure the development of business plans which reflect the values and strategies of HUP and UPHS.

• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

• Maintain safe, reliable and efficient utility systems.

Credentials:

  • Strong background in HVAC systems.

  • Knowledge of building and life safety codes.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Minimum of (10) years of experience in operations and maintenance of a physical plant (Required)

  • Minimum of (5) years management experience in a Hospital Physical Plan (Required)

  • Engineering Degree (Preferred)

  • ASHE CHFM certification (Preferred)

  • Combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for a degree
