Position Description:

The Designer with various departments, executing projects in alignment with the visual identity and brand standards of The Franklin Institute. The designer will coordinate with other departments in the approval process of all assigned projects and is responsible for producing an on-time, on-budget, high-quality product. The designer will work in a fast-paced environment and will be part of a small design team, which is part of the larger Experiences department.

 

The Designer will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing various mediums
  • Involvement in all project phases, including estimating, design, production, purchasing, proofing, and archiving.
  • Participation in creative team brainstorming, including messaging and design for all special exhibit marketing campaigns.
  • Developing and producing digital advertising for display ads.
  • Assist in the content management of dynamic digital signage, including maintaining messaging and templates to ensure accurate information is displayed throughout the museum.

     

Position Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design; entry-level candidates with a strong portfolio will be considered; a minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong portfolio showing a range of print and digital projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of both 2D and 3D graphic design.
  • Expert knowledge of Mac environment and Adobe Creative Cloud -- Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, & Acrobat.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Experience with motion graphics/After Effects preferred.
  • Copywriting experience a plus.
  • Illustration experience a plus.
