Business Analyst

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Business Analyst in our Pewaukee, Wisconsin location. This position offers possibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the Pewaukee office.

This is a job family (Associate Business Analyst/Business Analyst /Senior Business Analyst) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.

Job Summary

This role supports the Wholesale Energy Accounting process at WEC Energy Group. The Energy Accounting Team is responsible for collecting, validating and reporting megawatt hours (MWh) associated with our Corporation’s three Local Balancing Authority Areas (LBAs). The accuracy of the MWhs reported by this group is vital to ensure proper dollar settlement within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Market.

The major focus of this job is identifying the impact of changes to fleet, interconnection and load within the WEC Energy Group LBAs and implementing the configuration changes within the PCI Energy Accounting system to properly reflect load and allow for downstream reporting to MISO and internal customers. Expected changes in our generation mix, including the increased use of renewables, must be properly captured within the Wholesale Energy Accounting process making this role challenging and dynamic.

This position also assists in performing all daily and end of month tasks required to validate the accuracy of the MWh data, obtain agreement with counterparties and report injections, withdrawals, and interchange to MISO.

Job Responsibilities

  • Offer internal process and user/customer perspective of simplicity, efficiency, and effectiveness into design and analysis. Consistently strive to identify and implement process improvements

  • Make recommendations and present alternatives to address business needs or resolve impediments. Analyze data discrepancies and identify cause. Determine best solution considering impacts on MISO market and internal processes

  • System configuration and administration. Design, implement, test and document impact of changes to Wholesale Energy Accounting process

  • Serve as subject matter expert on systems, process, and user/customer impact. Understand the complex area of Energy Accounting; determine what impacts Wholesale Energy Accounting and to what extent

  • Work with cross-functional teams and contacts to ensure efficient process flow across organizational lines. Establish key working relationships to insure inclusion of Energy Accounting Group in emerging initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science or related discipline

  • Strong analysis, decision making and problem solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks under time constraints

Pay Range Minimum: $64,949.56

Pay Range Maximum: $128,844.04

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
