Job Description Summary
As part of the GE Vernova Rotating Machines Product Engineering team, you will play a significant role in helping serve our customers by providing technical solutions to support the design and manufacturing of large industrial synchronous and induction motors. GE has been producing large rotating electrical equipment for more than 130 years, producing motors up to 100,000hp. Our machines are found in a variety of critical applications, including marine, industrial and power generation.
You will work with the internal Engineering team and external CAD design providers to develop technical solutions and designs for new rotating electrical equipment, retrofits, upgrades, and spares.
The successful candidate will report to the Rotating Machines Peterborough Product Engineering Leader.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Design Coordinator, you will:
Define component design parameters using design inputs including engineering instructions, design standards, automation, reference designs etc.
Perform layout and modeling work (2D/3D) on components and assemblies.
Prepare packages for external CAD design providers to allow for the creation of drawings and bills of materials. These shall include drawing markups, instructions, reference drawings, and CAD models.
Manage the creation and approval of drawings and bills of materials through the design cycle.
Provide technical support to external design providers, component vendors, and internal manufacturing.
Assist in the preparation of a systematic project plan that outlines the design execution strategy.
Actively participate in continuous improvement projects to improve quality and reduce cycle time and design effort.
Required Qualifications
Technologist Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical technology.
Minimum of 5 years or more related experience in design, modeling, creating drawings and bills of materials.
Desired Characteristics
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation.
Expertise in 3-D and 2-D design software, with Creo and AutoCAD preferred.
Expertise in bills of material, with PLM Teamcenter experience an asset.
Detailed component design knowledge of large synchronous and induction machines.
Demonstrated ability in developing technical instructions.
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes, shop tolerances and industry standards.
Collaborative attitude and ability to work in a cross functional and diverse team.
Ability to organize & prioritize multiple concurrent tasks and priorities.
Planning skills to mitigate risks and pivot when activities do not align with the committed timetable.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to make fact-based decisions using data to determine possible outcomes.
Solution oriented and pragmatic, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
