Under supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs District buildings, facilities, fixtures, equipment, and property.

**Description This position performs skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance and repair of District property and facilities. Using specialized knowledge and expertise in HVAC, carpentry, painting, landscaping, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems maintenance and repair, performs a variety of maintenance work to repair, and remodel, facilities, electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and fixtures; including, but not limited to, the Operations Maintenance Facility, District offices, passenger stations, park and ride lots, landscaping, fences and other trackside areas. [This position will be responsible for work activities on various shifts, weekends, and holidays to ensure safe and efficient transportation to the public.

Performs maintenance of trackside structures, including cleaning walls, windows, floors and restrooms.

Performs semi-skilled repairs of structures, fencing and guardrails.

Installs, maintains, repairs and modifies a wide variety of heating and refrigeration equipment; maintains and adjusts associated electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.

Inspects equipment for maintenance needs, makes basic repairs to ensure safety, and places barricades or signs to ensure patron safety.

Uses diagnostic test equipment and precision measuring devices in the course of work.

Reads and interprets diagrams, engineering drawings, manuals and schematics and works orders.

Measures, tests and inspects completed work to confirm adherence to specifications.

Inspects and reports problems with District facilities and equipment.

Keeps park and ride lots and other trackside areas clean and free of litter.

Maintains trackside landscaping using various power and hand tools; applies fertilizers or herbicides as needed.

Performs manual labor.

Operates, services and maintains gardening, janitorial and related tools and equipment.

Operates a computer for related data input and retrieval.

Safely operates SMART motor vehicles, in the course of performing assigned duties.

References parts catalogues and other sources to determine correct parts for specific applications.

Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

Follows proper safety procedures; answers patron questions regarding work activity.
