About the role:

The Banquets Service Manager supports Banquets Operations Manager on Full Time basis and leads the overall Food & Beverage service operation of the hotel providing strong direction and motivation to the team. The Banquets Service Manager is the “face of The Westin Perth”, dedicated to providing the very best of Westin vibe and feel in every guest interaction. Service standards come naturally to this person, and they are able to make standard interactions, special and memorable for the guests, every day, every time. This role person has an exposure, influence and accountability for the cost structure, productivity, quality standards, Westin culture, guest experience and talent engagement department. Your Duties will be:

  • Assists Banquets Operations Manager, manages all event service, banquet and event technology operations and staff on a daily basis.

  • Ensuring the highest level of service throughout the event phase.

  • Maximising revenue opportunities by up-selling during the event phase and maximizes profit by effectively managing costs.

  • Achieving guest and employee satisfaction and for managing the financial performance of the Event Operations Department.

  • Meeting with clients to discuss their needs and outlining package options to meet these needs.

  • Arranging and coordinating services, such as conference facilities, catering, signage, displays, audiovisual equipment, accommodation, transport, and social events, for participants.

  • Negotiating the type and costs of services to be provided within budget.

  • Promoting conferences, conventions, and trade shows to potential customers

  • Responding to inquiries concerning services provided and costs for room and equipment hire catering and related services.

  • Organising registration of participants

  • Overseeing work by contractors and reporting on variations to work orders.

  • Coaching and training of the team.

Skills & Experience:

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Excellent knowledge of Food & Beverage operations and high-end service levels.

  • Have good English communication skills both in written and spoken.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Competent with OPERA, MICROS Software or similar highly regarded.

  • Hold an approved manager certificate, current WA RSA and first aid certificate – desirable.

  • Organized with strong planning, good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure with a ‘Can Do’ attitude and a high level of energy.
