Paintline Technician at Ditch Witch:

This employee responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repairs on all paint kitchen equipment and paint mixers on all paint lines and maintaining inventory supplies and parts supporting equipment. Individual must be self-motivated and able to work alone and on teams focusing on ensuring equipment is maintained and available for painting processes. Deal with rapidly changing priorities due to equipment failure. Employees in this position will provide best work practices for paint operations related to Safety and daily care of equipment and perform other duties as assigned.

What Will You Do?

  • General house cleaning and organizing skills and practices are a must.

  • Track inventory levels of repair parts, tips and hoses are maintained to meet production.

  • Ensure that all safety practices are being followed.

  • Troubleshoot & repair paint mixer and paint kitchen equipment system problems on all types of paint equipment. This may include

  • Listening to, observing, and operating machines

  • Analyzing performance and diagnosing the problem.

  • Disassembling and reassembling equipment using a variety of hand and power tools.

  • Identify and repair or replace components.

  • Climb on and crawl under and inside machines. Work at heights, in tight quarters, and in awkward positions.

  • Use diagnostic equipment or test instruments.

  • Read information from electrical schematics, technical manuals, and written instructions.

  • Create and maintains logs for paint kitchen and steel man ovens around daily activities, use of paint, primer, catalyst and for maintenance performed on pumps, filters etc.

  • Check fluid levels in all required equipment and tanks, checks air/fluid pressures and adjust as needed.

  • Follow detail work instructions on Reclaim system and Steel man oven.

  • Maintain equipment at pump stations in Paint Kitchen.

  • Work closely with Section Leaders and Leads on all shift to ensure required work is being completed on schedule and inventory of repair parts, paint, tips and required equipment is being ordered timely.

  • Be an active team member in CI projects and Team meeting.

  • Through behavior and communication, maintain a positive work atmosphere and positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, suppliers and co-workers.

  • Meet or exceed typical expectations for productivity, quality, and safety.

    What Will You Need?

  • High school or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience or training in automotive, industrial, aircraft spray painting or auto body work preferred.

  • Able to use computers, read and follow written instructions from print or computers.

  • Have appropriate knowledge of our painting, paint equipment repair and/or reporting processes.

  • Ability to use spray painting equipment to apply a quality finish to equipment and parts.

  • Must be able to handle changing priorities to resolve issues concerning quality and equipment failures to reduce down time on paint lines.

  • Demonstrate appropriate basic mechanical skills. This includes the ability to use repair tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

  • Be willing to work overtime or extended hours on short notice until equipment is repaired.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, self-motivated and pay attention to detail.

    Work Environment:

  • Regular use of a personal computer.

  • Manufacturing plant environment, including variable heat and humidity, dirt, and noise; physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and

  • Pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, and materials handling; hazardous materials such as fuels, oils, grease, and paint.

  • Workdays of up to 11 hours, with occasional work on weekends.

  • Rapidly changing workloads and priorities, frequently with multiple requests from a variety of supervisors and managers.
