BIG TOP MANUFACTURING Senior Cost Accountant in Perry, Florida

Were seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing finance team. As the heartbeat of our cost management efforts, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate cost accounting and financial analysis to support our manufacturing operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze production costs, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and provide valuable insights to enhance profitability and operational efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze production costs and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of cost accounting records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
  • Prepare and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead, ensuring alignment with actual manufacturing costs.
  • Lead periodic time study efforts.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including the preparation of cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation reports.
  • Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to management, including cost projections, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist in the preparation of the COGS accounts for the annual budget and forecasting.
  • Lead annual physical inventory audit, liaising with external auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with an ERP/MRP system required.
  • Current expertise in: MS Office Suite (Advanced MS Excel required).
  • Experienced in and knowledgeable of GAAP.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required; MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience with cost accounting in large job, configured manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with customers, co-workers, management, and vendors.
  • Occasionally moves files and boxes of records weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time.
