A great opportunity for a Marketing Consultant to join our Global Mining Marketing team has become available. You will serve as a consultant and divisional expert in marketing, where decisions and recommendations are made to create and sustain competitive advantage for Large Wheel Loaders and Mining Trucks and ultimately drive revenue and business growth for Caterpillar.

As a Marketing Consultant in the Mining team, you will need to demonstrate leadership skills: selling ideas and gaining consensus are central to success. As an individual contributor, you will lead or contribute to cross-functional teams, which requires effective communication, relationship-building skills, and the ability to work across business units and with the dealer network.

What you will do:

Collaborating with the sales team to ensure sales enablement and marketing support on-demand generation activities to ensure an attractive return on marketing investment.

Developing and executing activities related to market analysis, customer segmentation, customer personae, customer decision journey, competitor analysis, industry positioning, campaign development, marketing asset development, metrics, and reporting.

Designing marketing messages, campaigns, and marketing assets through all marketing and communication channels while managing associated marketing budgets.

Negotiating, directing and collaborating with internal and external agencies as needed to ensure delivery of marketing campaigns on time and budget.

Providing marketing direction and input to enhance the NPI process.

Serving as a key member on strategic marketing projects.

Leading teams for specific projects.

What skills will you have:

Promotion and Marketing Communications: Extensive experience in marketing and communications. Proficiency in building and executing B2B multi-channel marketing campaigns and/or programs. Understanding and ability to analyze, report, and optimize campaign performance.

Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and the ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Creativity: Knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Confident to work alone and be self-motivated. Self-starter and energetic team player.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Vendor/Supplier Management: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g. vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants and suppliers).

Degree Requirement: A bachelor’s or master's degree in communications, Marketing, Digital, Media, or related fields.

Top Candidates will also have:

Understanding of Caterpillar mining equipment portfolio.

Proficiency in Office 365 suite of tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization.

Ability to work on complex projects.

An interest in process improvement.

Excellent problem-solving skills – strategic, inquisitive, solution-focused, and engaged in peer-to-peer support.  

Be a user of or willing to learn tools such as PowerBI/Tableau.

Additional information:

The location for this position is Tucson, AZ, or Peoria, IL

This position will require 15 % travel.
