Compensation and Schedule for the Patient Scheduler

Patient Scheduler – Full-time, onsite, $18-$23 per hour, Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Join a fast-paced team with great benefits!

Required Qualifications of the Patient Scheduler

  • 2+ years of recent medical scheduling experience required

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Job Summary for the Patient Scheduler

Perform the daily operations of scheduling appointments for patients and gather all necessary information from the patient for appropriate patient appointment and billing purposes.

Schedule appointments for patients and ensure that all appointments are booked accurately and efficiently. Work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members to ensure that all scheduling needs are met.

Responsibilities of the Patient Scheduler

  • Schedule new and follow-up patient visits according to practice guidelines

  • Enter instructions needed for scheduling in an electronic medical record

  • Notify patients with scheduling changes and reschedule when needed

  • Inform patients of required information prior to patient visit, including referral/authorization information, insurance information, and medical history

  • Inform patients that co-payment and deductibles are collected at time of service

  • Answer the phone, return calls from the scheduling queue, and reply to emails from patients in a prompt timeframe

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information on timings and dates to both patients and medical staff

  • Prioritize urgent appointments over non-urgent appointments, following physician preferences

  • Update records, databases, and calendars after appointments have been scheduled

  • Assist with training staff

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
