Commander, Navy Installations SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in Pensacola, Florida

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the Navy Fire and Emergency Services Department of NAS PENSACOLA to include NAS Whiting Field. Responsibilities You will provide technical guidance; identify training needs; interview and select candidates for vacancies; recommend promotions; approve leave; recommend awards and resolve disciplinary issues. You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities. You will analyze the structural condition of a building to determine firefighting equipment and apparatus required to fight fire. You will perform structural firefighting and rescue duties in buildings, housing units, or confined spaces to eliminate and control fires. You will use hazard and risk assessment techniques to complete an initial hazardous materials incident analysis. You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient. You will advise senior leaders of the progress of a fire protection and fire prevention training program. You will monitor occupational safety and health programs within a fire division. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the Gs-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing command and control of emergency incidents to include basic life support procedures as needed for each emergency calls; 2) Leading day to day operations for assigned shift providing guidance on firefighter related procedures; 3) Fighting structural, shipboard, and/or airfield fires using pre-fire planning methods and knowledge of layouts and design; 4) Operating firefighting emergency vehicles and equipment; 5) Providing hazardous material incident response; and 6) Performing supervisory duties such as managing, organizing, directing, providing technical leadership and guidance, assigning and prioritizing work, position management, evaluating work performance of subordinates and resolving disciplinary issues. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator ARFF, Pumper & Aerial, HAZMAT Technician & HAZMAT Incident Commander, Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT). These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
