THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker Manager, you must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide social work services appropriate to the ages served. You must also possess a knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify requirements relative to age-specific needs; and ensure suitable social work programming, interventions, and services are being provided to the consumers of Wernersville State Hospital.

Additional duties include the responsibility for developing and implementing quality and appropriately monitoring of all psychosocial assessments and discharge planning. You work effectively in cross-cultural situations as evidenced by demonstrating the ability to value diversity. In addition, you must understand the dynamics of differences and incorporate knowledge about culture into the adaptation of programming, interventions, and services as appropriate.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Social Worker Supervisor (Must have been employed in a Commonwealth Social Worker job title on September 8, 2008 with continuous Commonwealth employment); or

  • One year of experience as a Social Worker Supervisor and a master’s degree in social work or social welfare; or

  • Four years of professional social work experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and a master’s degree in social work or social welfare.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
