THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking a dedicated individual to join the HVAC crew at the Division of Installation Maintenance, Fort Indiantown Gap. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a HVAC Refrigeration Technician, your primary responsibilities will involve making mechanical repairs and performing preventive maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, as well as other equipment located at Fort Indiantown Gap. You will also be responsible for installing new units, installing component parts, making necessary adjustments, and repairing various types of HVAC systems. This role requires strong technical skills and attention to detail in order to ensure the proper functioning and safety of all HVAC equipment at Fort Indiantown Gap.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (37.5-hour work week)

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (commonwealth title); or

  • Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls.

    Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

  • You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.

    Additional Requirements:

  • You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Willingness and ability to work in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania

  • Possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification

  • Possession of an Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification

  • Experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of refrigeration and HVAC systems, units, and equipment

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and/or writing diagrams/schematics.

  • Experience making adjustments, as well as minor and major repairs, to the heating systems (steam, hot water, and gas) and refrigeration and freezer units (reach-in and walk-in)

  • Experience installing refrigeration or HVAC systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on all related equipment

  • Experience responding to emergencies by going onsite and troubleshooting problems

  • Experience making adjustments online or in-person, if necessary, to maintain comfortable conditions

  • Experience conducting building inspections to ensure adequate heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, and circulation in buildings
