THE POSITION

Are you ready to embark on an exciting new phase in your career, leveraging your expertise in environmental planning at the local, regional, or state level? The Pennsylvania Game Commission has an opening for an Environmental Planner 2 within our Bureau of Wildlife Habitat Management. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the development, oversight, coordination, and compliance of oil, gas, and mineral recovery activities on State Game Lands (SGLs). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Environmental Planner 2, you will be tasked with assisting with the management and oversight of Oil Gas Mineral (OGM) leases and agreements, as well as the processing, review, tracking, and maintenance of lease royalties, rentals and revenues generated from OGM recovery operation on SGLs. Work includes coordinating ongoing updates, edits, and improvements to the geospatial datasets, helping manage the OGM royalty management system, and providing guidance to Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) staff on ways geospatial technologies can be utilized to track active, abandoned, and remediated mineral extraction activity sites. You will have the opportunity to conduct field reviews and site inspections, train regional PGC staff, and promote future enhancements to abandoned mine land reclamation opportunities across multiple public and private stakeholders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1; or

  • Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or

  • A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
