THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for candidates to fill an Electrician 1 role. This position involves a diverse range of responsibilities related to the installation, modification, upkeep, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks related to the installation, modification, upkeep, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment. This includes the development and installation of electrical conduits for power and lighting in departmental storage areas, as well as identifying and rectifying power outages and short circuits. You will also be tasked with repairing controllers, lights, power circuits, and electrical generators, in addition to installing both open and concealed wiring, switches, and controls.
Your responsibilities will extend to the installation, alteration, repair, maintenance, and testing of various equipment and connections. This involves removing, repairing, and replacing faulty controls and components, conducting preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, panels, and generators, as well as reading and interpreting blueprints to identify defects in a wide array of electrical systems and equipment.
You will also troubleshoot and resolve power failures and electrical problems, including the replacement of worn or malfunctioning switches and outlets. Furthermore, you will provide guidance to county personnel authorized to install electrical devices for equipment and lighting in personnel buildings and storage areas, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (commonwealth title);or
Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
Post-Employment Requirement:
Must obtain an Air Brake Endorsement within 6-month probationary period.
Additional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
