THE POSITION

The Pittsburgh Community Corrections Center (CCC) is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and compassionate monitor to join our dynamic team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision to re-entrants at our facility. Our goal is to provide the highest quality residential and treatment services and ensure safety and security. You will help meet this mission daily by maintaining daily activity logs for re-entrants, observing behavior through one-on-one and group interactions, conducting drills, and documenting findings during scheduled and unscheduled searches. Part of monitoring behaviors and activities will include maintaining inventories of prescription medications, security equipment, tools, toxic chemicals, and housekeeping supplies. You will also greet and register all visitors and ensure safe and secure movement throughout the center. Other key job duties include conducting new re-entrant orientations, administering and documenting breathalyzer and urine analysis tests, notating behavior and misconduct records, and attending disciplinary hearings. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24-hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Your work schedule will be determined at the time of hire based on operational needs.

  • Salary: Candidates new to the Commonwealth will begin at the starting rate of pay listed on this posting.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be willing and able to work in Pittsburgh , Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

  • This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience).

  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).
