THE POSITION
This position serves as the front desk attendant for PennDOT's Engineering District 8-0 Office, providing clerical and administrative support and functions for the entire District.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Responsibilities of this position include the following:
Answers reception area telephone and assists callers by forwarding calls to the proper contact or area.
Provides customer service to visitors entering the District Office.
Organizes escort of visitors, guests, and employees to the proper area by calling ahead, announcing, and coordinating their arrival with appropriate Department staff, when applicable. This can include a wide range of people from high school students, members of the public and business partners.
Ensures all beginning of day and end of day tasks are completed including unlocking and locking the front doors.
Operates District mailroom including receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail; sorting and metering various-sized outgoing mail pieces via USPS or UPS; preparing certified or special delivery mail and packages; having postage added to the meter when required; and determining most cost-effective method for sending mail.
Assists other District Clerical Assistant 2’s with their regular duties as needed. This can be things like but not limited to developing general instruction, notes and review of file materials, preparing correspondence and reports for District staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $34,621 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
Graduation from high school;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
