DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The individual selected for this role will engage in a year-long training program to familiarize themselves with the responsibilities of an Air Quality Specialist. This training will encompass a comprehensive understanding of the diverse job duties and regulations set forth by the Commonwealth related to Air Quality. Specifically, the focus will be on the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMs) that must undergo certification and auditing processes.

Furthermore, the trainee will be instructed on how to carry out technical and engineering evaluations of CEMs monitoring plans. This will involve closely examining the performance and data generated by CEMs, which are operated by owners and operators in compliance with regulatory standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

    Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.
