Keuka Lake School Cook
Keuka Lake School, a premier preschool and day care located in Penn Yan, is looking to fill the position of Cook for the coming school year. This position will have the responsibility for planning and preparation of breakfast, lunch and snacks for children from toddler (possibly infants as some point in the future) to school age.
Cook Duties and Responsibilities:
Bringing joy to every classroom, this role plans, prepares, and serves delicious, nutritionally balanced meals and snacks that adhere to USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines. You'll determine meal and snack counts, ensuring every child gets their tasty treat. Delivering food to classrooms becomes a delightful part of your day as you greet and interact with the children daily. With a keen eye for detail, you'll perform weekly inventories and keep the center director updated on needs. Managing orders from approved suppliers within budget, you ensure accurate and timely deliveries. You'll uphold state and local health, licensing, safety, and nutritional standards while maintaining impeccable personal hygiene and a spotless kitchen. This role keeps the heart of the center-its kitchen-organized, clean, and running smoothly!
Cook Minimum Qualifications:
2 years of work experience in cooking for multiple individuals, preferably in a childcare facility.
A High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
Knowledge of USDA Food and Nutrition requirements and understand all current and local food regulations.
Must be knowledgeable in food allergies and follow portion control standards.
Is adaptable and implements changes in menus as needed.
Food training in sanitation, food safety, nutrition and food preparation.
Food Handler's Permit as required by NY State.
Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs
Cook Full-Time Schedule:
Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm
Full Time: 40 Hours per week. 46 weeks a year. This position follows the local public-school schedule. (10-month summer school, plus a 6-week summer program).
Location: 240 North Ave, Penn Yan
Hourly Rate: $17.00- $20.00
