$17-$18/hr. Plus Free YMCA Family Membership

The Site Coordinator is responsible for supervision, planning, implementing, and organizing the daily Before and After School Program. Major emphasis is on program excellence and developing quality care of the highest standard. The incumbent will supervise any staff and volunteers that are assigned to them, maintain a safe environment for all participants, and communicate with parents/guardians regularly. Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation and maintenance of the school-age child care program. The position is responsible for ensuring that the child care programs convey the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, organize, and implement the daily program schedule and curriculum at a site. (i.e. CATCH where applicable)

  • Maintain a safe environment for all children in the program.

  • Maintain all records, attendance, fire drills, sign in/out, behavior, and medical logs under regulations by OCFS, etc., as determined by the supervisor.

  • Supervise, observe, train, evaluate, and mentor all staff and/or volunteers. Maintain a positive working relationship amongst staff, volunteers, and site personnel.

  • Maintain positive relations with school personnel.

  • Maintain equipment and inventory supplies.

  • Maintain clean facilities at the site and at the Branch.

  • Knowledge of Office of Children and Family Services Regulations, YMCA of Greater Rochester procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and Branch regulations.

  • Work with appropriate staff to obtain and maintain the New York State Accreditation Standards as assigned.

  • Dispense all medication as regulated by OCFS regulations.

  • Display a positive attitude that is conducive to good public relations.

  • Assist in recruitment of program participants and interviewing program staff.

  • Assist Program Director/Multi-Site Coordinator in programming, directing, and enhancing the Fun Club Program.

  • Communicate on a daily basis with parents/guardians regarding children in all youth programs.

  • Implement YUSA 9 core component curriculum.

  • Expand job knowledge and skills by demonstrating a willingness to learn.

  • Meet all requirements of dress code policy.

  • Maintain all required certifications.

  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Be at least 18 years of age AND possess an Associate’s degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field AND at least two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care programmer related field of work

OR

NYS Children’s Program Administrator credential AND two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work

OR

School Age Child Care Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period AND two years direct ecperience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field.

OR

  • Two years of college with 18 credits in the above listed areas of concentration AND two years direct experience with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

  • Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with people.

  • Have strong interpersonal and organization skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Have the ability to assist in supervising Assistants and Volunteers.

  • Possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA, its goals, and its mission.

  • Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

  • Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).

  • Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical, and emotional needs.

  • Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 40 lbs.

  • Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather).

  • Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.

Salary Description

$17.50-$18.50 per hour
