Job Title: Auto Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Rolling Stock Mechanic with technical knowledge in electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment. This role involves hands-on work with these systems, performing various maintenance tasks, and ensuring the proper functioning of assigned vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication, and proper maintenance on assigned vehicles.

  • Observe PV electromechanical components in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction.

  • Respond to malfunctions and complete repairs as assigned.

  • Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve system and subsystem issues to support field technicians in diagnosing and correcting faults.

  • Produce accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system.

  • Analyze log files to troubleshoot and provide required corrective actions and improvements.

  • Perform re-railing tasks and maintain re-railing equipment according to training and qualifications.

  • Drive trains and work vehicles as required, following appropriate training and qualifications.

  • Operate OTE, wheel turning machines, wheel presses, train lifts, and other equipment as required.

  • Support on-site spare parts management and the repair cycle.

  • Prepare fleet performance maintenance technical reports.

  • Produce work blocks and job hazard analyses for planned work.

  • Conduct job and safety briefings as required.

  • Perform additional duties as instructed by the Rolling Stock and Depot Lead/Manager and the Rolling Stock Engineer.

  • Complete operational, equipment failure, safety, and other reports as required.

  • Participate in training programs.

  • Comply with safety rules, operating rule books, and first-aid procedures.

  • Use electronic test equipment, power tools, and other specialized hand tools as required.

  • Ensure the execution and collection of all maintenance records and support day-to-day maintenance performance monitoring.

  • Ensure conformance to technical specifications and compliance with operational specifications and tolerances.

  • Ensure sufficient materials, tools, and equipment are available, calibrated, and in good condition for maintenance activities.

  • Identify failure trends early to ensure fleet availability.

  • Perform simple failure analysis and technical investigations.

  • Ensure corrective and preventative maintenance tasks comply with company safety policy and local regulations.

  • Execute health check procedures before vehicles are put into service.

  • Support the effective implementation of rolling stock and first-line response maintenance safety standards.

  • Perform cross-functional job duties on unrelated track and third rail systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controlled systems, according to training and qualifications.

Essential Skills

  • Technical knowledge in electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.

  • Hands-on experience with electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.

  • Experience in troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and diesel systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to use electronic test equipment, power tools, and other specialized hand tools.

  • Capability to produce accurate maintenance records.

  • Ability to analyze log files to troubleshoot and provide corrective actions.

  • Experience in conducting job and safety briefings.

  • Proficiency in executing health check procedures and supporting maintenance performance monitoring.

Work Environment

The role requires flexibility and efficiency with shift rotation, including weekends and holidays typical of major infrastructure projects and operating transit systems. Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (3am – 11:30pm), 2nd shift (11pm-7:30pm), and 3rd shift (7pm-3:30am). Technicians may be scheduled for any shift on any day of the week. The work involves using electronic test equipment, power tools, and other specialized hand tools in various conditions.
