Siemens Smart Infrastructure R&D Team is looking for a Software Developer, Embedded Systems to join their Peachtree Corners, GA location.

Join the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products R&D team as we build together technologies to create next generation of products for safe, smart, and efficient electrical circuit protection, intelligent energy source selection, intuitive power distribution, control, and monitoring.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing software for our embedded products and prototypes (RTOS and bare metal-based products) in a variety of areas, including algorithm development, wired and wireless communications, IoT security, and data collection / analysis. Located at our Peachtree Corners, GA location, you will be involved in the complete life cycle of the product design process – design, validate, deploy, and maintain.

As the Software Developer , Embedded Systems you will:

  • Design and implement embedded C software for bare-metal microcontroller-based systems.

  • Research new components, technologies, and methods to incorporate into new designs. Perform periodic analysis of resources (memory, timing, speed etc.) for identified microcontrollers and microprocessors to help develop efficient, stable, and scalable products and systems

  • Design software-based tools to support verification and manufacturing.

  • Build and troubleshoot hardware, including basic soldering, operation of test equipment, and daily work in both office and test lab environments.

  • Prototype and execute test programs to verify compliance with applicable performance, regulatory, and quality requirements.

You will make impact if you have the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • 5+ years of professional experience with the following:

  • Designing embedded software especially hardware related programming of real time operating systems on microcontrollers and microprocessors (ARM cortex).

  • Working directly with target hardware, including lab bench equipment and other tools for debugging and analysis. Knowledge and experience of understanding and interpretation of hardware schematics is required.

  • Proficient in programming using C Language.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Working with multiple communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART etc.) and industry standard security packages for secure firmware and data transfer between communicating devices is required.

  • Working with industry standard programmers and debugging environments (JTAG etc.) is required.

  • Working with electronic test equipment and measurement devices such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, DC power supplies etc.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of UL certification (UL 1008, 1998 or similar) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and tools and working understanding of software development process is a bonus.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to communicate information effectively.

  • Ability to convey ideas and concepts to a wide range of audiences including product management and engineers.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment as part of a team.

  • Produce excellent results with minimal supervision, independently debug, optimize and able to evaluate complex code base.

  • Strong analytic and decision-making skills.

  • Strong quality orientation and customer focus.

  • Familiarity with software testing tools such as Unity, SonarQube etc.

  • Familiarity with software version control such as GIT, Rational ClearCase etc.

  • The pay range for this position is $81,100 - $169,700. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
