Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding Shipfitter A - 1625 in Pascagoula, Mississippi
This position is for a (Shipfitter A) located in Pascagoula, MS.
Duties and Responsibilities: The shipfitter is responsible for the surface preparation of structural metal components and the lay out and fabrication of metal structural parts within the hull of a vessel for riveting and welding.
Job Specifications or Qualifications:
Working from blueprints or templates, lays out position of parts on metal using a scribe and hand tools. Locates and marks reference lines. Positions parts in hull of vessel with assistance from a Tacker or Helper. Aligns parts in relation to each other using jacks, come-a-longs, turnbuckles, clips, wedges and mauls. Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding or riveting. May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding. May bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, utilizing the above-mentioned equipment. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of blueprints and drawings. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Prior experience, as a shipfitter is preferred, capable of operating a cutting torch and tack welding.
