Job Summary and Qualifications
The Risk Management Coordinator will participate in the management and support of the risk management program at the direction and under the guidance of the Risk Manager. Under the direction of the Risk Manager, the Risk Management Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating those systems necessary for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of professional and general liability risk exposures.
What you will do in this role:
Formulates analysis plan for data management.
Analyzes incidents/occurrences and identifies patterns as evidence for decision making.
Provides guidance for an evidence based risk management program for the facility.
Determines the appropriate investigative technique and strategies to utilize with various types of occurrences.
Identifies those occurrences that are potentially compensable events, and reports to the Risk Manager
Conducts investigation of incidents that could lead to professional/general liability claims.
Works with patients/families and visitors where appropriate to resolve outstanding complaints and grievances.
Meets with the Risk Manager at least bi-monthly to review open occurrences and identified trends.
Ensure compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards regulatory agencies.
Disseminates information and research related to changes in regulatory requirements and clinical research pertinent to potential liability exposures and risk issues.
Maintains the grievance/complaint process and logs in compliance with state, federal and regulatory agencies requirements.
Maintains current knowledge and education in risk management and associated areas.
Serves as a member of select committees critical to effectiveness of the Risk Management Program as directed by the Risk Manager.
Develops and maintains a positive working rapport with other hospital departments and Medical Staff.
What qualifications you will need:
Associate of Science in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred
2 years experience in clinical risk management preferred
