Based in the Parsippany, New Jersey region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You'll also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.

Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Proven knowledge of Record Journal Entries
Knowledge of month end closings
Previous experience working with Excel Formulas
Quality experience with accruals
Experience with financial statement preparation
Earlier work involving VLOOKUP
Wide ranging experience with debits
Practical knowledge of Monthly Accruals
Well-founded grasp of Recurring Journal Entries
Account reconciliation experience
Experience with Prepare Journal Entries
General familiarity with Prepaid Expense
Comprehension of Microsoft Excel
Good understanding of Pivot Table
Solid understanding of bank reconciliations
Skills in Excel VBA
Posting Journal Entries experience preferred
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Skilled with ERP systems
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
