Co-Opportunity/Internship is a chance for you to learn about your chosen field in a real work environment with experienced GAF professionals. You’ll be involved in high-profile projects as an integral member of our working teams. We offer full-time assignments to those students who are working toward undergraduate or graduate degrees in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Each assignment lasts a school term, and you may be invited to return to GAF for additional terms while you continue your education. You will receive a competitive salary and - depending on location - a temporary housing stipend.

Essential Duties:

• Problem solving, project management and communication skills are all necessary as is the ability to operate in a team environment. In addition, candidates must have the ability to generate accurate and concise technical reports.

• Conduct laboratory testing, equipment operation, integration, etc.

• Developing and/or engaging with data flow diagrams/technical diagrams.

• Conducting problem-solving and troubleshooting investigations to assure root causes are identified and countermeasures and prevention are fully implemented

• Exporting, analyzing and organizing data

• Working under the guidance of a Process R&D Engineer, taking direction and completing tasks in a timely manner

Requirements:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering.

• All candidates must have a minimum 2.8 GPA, and at least sophomore standing

• Comfortable performing basic mathematical operations that are essential for engineering applications

• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer-sponsored visa (work permit)

• Problem solving, project management, collaboration and communication skills

• Must have ability to generate accurate and concise technical reports

• Proficient with office productivity tools: Microsoft Office Suite and Google (G-Suite)

• Candidates should also have computer skills in Google, MS Excel, MS Word, and basic knowledge of CAD design tools (e.g. Solidworks or equivalent).

Physical Requirements: Computer, ability to make oral presentations, lifting objects up to 30 lbs., standing or sitting for extended periods, extended or irregular hours, bending, kneeling, stooping, walking on uneven terrain. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
