TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION K436 Fleet Equipment Inspector (PAR) - Fleet Operations Division in Paris, Texas

Inspects and audits equipment for condition and risk factors according to state and federal DOT requirements, as well as internal operating procedures and processes. Oversees, monitors, and evaluates the fleet vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance/quality assurance program within an assigned district. Serves as technical expert on vehicle maintenance, repair, and fleet information management software. Work requires communication and scheduling with district/division leadership. Work requires contact with vendors and contractors. Employees at this level perform work independently and establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Oversees the Fleet Operations Division Preventive Maintenance Program in an assigned district.Inspects equipment on a regular schedule and generates and disseminates inspection reports and recommends corrective action to District Engineers, Division Directors, and other district or division managers.Develops and manages the biannual preventive maintenance inspection schedule of vehicles and equipment for their assigned area.Inspects and audits equipment for condition and risk factors according to state and Federal DOT requirements, as well as internal operating procedures and processes.Troubleshoots repair problems and communicates corrective actions and repair processes to department personnel.Oversees and provides training in the classroom, at office locations, and in the field to department personnel in the areas of pre-trip inspection, preventive maintenance, equipment repair, the Fleet Excellence Program (FLEX), and use of the fleet information management software (FNAV).Collaborates with Fleet Operations Division leadership and peers to develop training materials for district and division personnel.Communicates directly with district and division leadership to report and discuss issues and recognize achievements in the areas of preventive maintenance and the condition of the assets in their assigned inventory.Communicates difficult, detrimental, or unfavorable information to District and Division leadership in a professional and unbiased manner.Prepares written and oral reports on the status of equipment including pending repair requests and preventive maintenance services.Creates presentations to convey pertinent information about the FOD Preventive Maintenance Program to district and division leadership.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
