Workers should be physically able to meet and perform the work outlined in the contract for the entire period of time from 03/04/2025 to 9/29/2025. Wages are paid weekly. The employer guarantees to offer a least 3/4 of the hours listed and pay the adverse effect wage rate. Worker's compensation insurance will be provided. The employer must provide free housing and three meals a day or furnish free convenient cooking kitchen facilities to all workers who are not reasonably able to return to their residence the same day. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, loppers, shears, saws, knives, & any other farm equipment related to nursery. Workers may apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other crop protectants. All duties are involved in the production of plants in a greenhouse environment, this includes: planting, transplanting, pruning, spacing plants, and loading carts/boxes with plants prior to shipping them. Workers must understand nursery quality control standards and have working knowledge of production procedures. Must harvest crops according to specific standards. Must be able to select and harvest crops pursuant to customer needs. Workers will be working on an automated plant production line which involves putting small plants into pots and soil on a moving conveyor belt and/or putting empty plants pots or trays onto the conveyor which are subsequently filled with soil by machine. Workers will be taking cuttings from “mother plants” to be transplanted into small pots, trimming overgrown plants, pinching off dead flowers, putting adhesive bar code labels on empty pots or plant pots. Placing finished pots or trays (flats) of plants onto shipping carts or into boxes, maintaining clean and safe work areas. Workers will also be driving electric tuggers to pull shipping carts with the orders to be taken to the shipping docks. May drive forklift for the following functions: mixing soil for plants, spacing pots on the ground, moving material from storage to production. Workers will prepare soil for planting, remove cull stock debris and other growth for planting areas. Plant, cultivate and maintain nursery plants, including perennials, bedding plants, vegetable plants, hanging baskets, and tropical plants in condition for shipping and sale to customers. Pot seedling, attach hangers to baskets and hang throughout seasonal holding houses. Workers may assist in loading/unloading products and supplies. Worker will be required to follow common sanitary practices at all times, particularly when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Workers are required to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering greenhouses for harvesting activities. All greenhouse workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of greenhouse and are not limited to one particular task. Worker may be required to drive workers to/from housing to worksite and to grocery store/errands once a week.
