Akima Avionics Technician in Panama City, Florida
Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Avionics Technician for the United States Air Force E-9A Contractor Logistics Support contract at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL. This position requires good knowledge of radar systems as well as telemetry systems in basic knowledge, troubleshooting and repair.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoots to determine malfunctions on aircraft avionics components and electrical systems components, such as airborne navigation/communication systems, weather radar, autopilot, compass systems, telemetry systems and surveillance radar systems and accessories component level.
Uses all mandated safety equipment and complies with all safety requirements in accordance with company and government regulations and guidelines.
Completes all checklists, forms and reports as required in accordance with the company, government and FAA regulations and guidelines.
Participates in on-the-job training with onsite personnel.
Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies, using circuit testers, or voltmeters.
Keep and maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
Lay out installation of aircraft assemblies and systems, following documentation such as blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
Assists co-workers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when necessary.
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid state issued driver's license.
Experience in analyzing and developing troubleshooting plans is a must.
Must have at least 5 years of practical experience operating as a Licensed A&P.
Must have 2 years’ experience surveillance radars and telemetry systems.
Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
Must be able to read and write English.
Must pass airport security background checks and travel for work as required.
He/she must hold the appropriate licenses.
Shall possess the knowledge and ability necessary to perform routine and other work required.
Ability to frequently be required to stand, walk, continually utilize hand and finger dexterity, climb, balance, bend, or crawl; occasionally from height and in precarious places.
Be able to frequently lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds/ up to 25 pounds/ up to 50 pounds/ more than 50 pounds.
Aware he/she will be working near moving mechanical parts as well as around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals while exposed to loud noises.
Utilize visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical information.
Be exposed to weather conditions outside as well as non-weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold.
Airframe and Powerplant Certification required.
Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Exhibits positive, courteous behavior with customers, businesses, and co-workers.
