Summary
New Venture Research Corporation (NVRC) is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions supporting critical defense programs.
We are seeking a Communications Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City Beach, FL, with the design, development, and integration of C5ISR systems using advanced and emerging tactical communications systems and solutions. The role will also include operating, integrating, and enhancing legacy MILSATCOM based systems.
Tasks and Duties
The Communications Engineer is responsible for the integration, operation, and maintenance of a variety of communications systems. This includes expertise in SATCOM (Satellite Communications), MILSATCOM (Military Satellite Communications), commercial transport systems, tactical radio systems, and network transport systems. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of communication principles and hands-on experience with diverse communication technologies. The Communications Engineer ensures the reliable and effective operation of these systems to support critical communication needs.
Key Responsibilities
Configure and maintain SHF VSAT terminals and Harris tactical radio systems
Manage SATCOM systems including commercial terminals and troposcatter BLOS systems
Handle Type 1 Encryption COMSEC operations and training
Configure and maintain various modem systems (iDirect TDMA, Comtech FDMA, EBEM)
Manage video teleconferencing systems
Process Satellite Access Requests (SAR) and Gateway Access Requests (GAR)
Troubleshoot RF Communication and IP Network Transport Paths
Coordinate with DISA TELEPORT for satellite operations
Maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
Experience with tactical communications systems
Knowledge of RF systems and satellite communications
Experience with Harris radio systems and SATCOM terminals
Understanding of network protocols and IP communications
Operational understanding of Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) SATCOM system applications and use cases
Familiarity with emerging communications technologies and usage (e.g. STARLINK, STARSHIELD, 5G, etc.)
Required Education and Length of Experience
Bachelor's degree with 4 years' experience OR Master's degree with 1 years' experience OR 6 years' relevant experience and industry/military certification(s)
Travel Requirements
Travel up to 25% is required.

Due to our contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain up to TS/SCI, if required by the position.
