The Sustainability Program Manager will oversee a variety of projects and day to day operations associated with reducing the organization’s environmental impact. This includes assistance with and oversight of recycling and solid waste programs to influence landfill diversion, product environmental impact research and data management, alternative green product research and coordination of trials, staff education, co-chairing department green teams, and project management. In addition, this role will support the annual reporting requirements for Practice Greenhealth, which includes coordination of data from multiple stakeholders throughout the enterprise.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates sustainability programs, projects, and policies. Ensures effectiveness and compliance with mandates including, but not limited to: waste diversion, environmentally preferable purchasing, sustainability, climate change, sustainable transportation, recycling, and green building accomplishments.

  • Researches and determines operational viability of greener operating practices. Develops standard operating procedures, guidelines, and policies to achieve conservation and sustainability targets. Develops performance tracking systems to monitor and report on accomplishments.

  • Create and manage educational materials supporting the organization’s sustainability efforts.

  • Oversees the performance of waste and recycling programs. Analyzes data to help drive our performance to 90% or greater landfill diversion.

  • Implement, recruit, and oversee department based Green Teams. Collaborates directly with departments to develop and implement local sustainability programs and/projects. Provides support to departments by serving as a technical resource.

  • Analyzes markets for the availability, cost, and performance of environmentally preferable products and materials. Collaborates with departments to develop technical specifications for such products and materials. May research and coordinate grant opportunities.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement related to disposal of waste throughout the organization. Implements countermeasures and assesses how these changes have impacted the process.

  • Ensures compliance with related policies, laws, and regulations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

    Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.

    Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • Ability to track and manage metrics and project outcomes

  • Skilled in technical report development including summarizing project scope, calculation methodologies, key assumptions, and recommendations

  • Project management skills, including all aspects of planning, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, deciding technical approach, ensuring technical quality, tracking, and ensuring stated expectations are met ¿

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $100,880.00 to $133,764.80
