Ford Motor Company Stolen Vehicle Services Software Engineer in Palo Alto, California

In this position...

Software Engineer position within the Cloud Platform Engineering organization that will work on the Stolen Vehicle Service product. The Software Engineer will be a part of a Product Team that is responsible for delivering high quality features and APIs that support various Ford Motor Company connected vehicle initiatives. The Software Engineer will collaborate with the Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, and other Software Engineers to lead systems design, development, testing, and operations activities. The Software Engineer will be responsible for working with a variety of technologies for cloud development.

What you'll do...

  • Serve as a Full Stack Software Engineer that enables the design, development, and support of APIs, Platforms, and services.

  • Develop Spring Boot/Java and Kotlin based microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing GCP services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Pub/Sub, and more.

  • Deliver software frequently using Test Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

  • Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.

  • Interact and work closely with technical program managers to devise solutions and break them down into incremental production-ready user stories.

  • Identify opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.

  • Refactor API/microservices for simplification and efficiency.

  • Execute API Load and Performance testing on API/modules developed.

  • Develop software that is of the highest quality and security, utilizing tools such as SonarQube and Checkmarx

  • Perform development individually and collaboratively with cross functional teams, focusing on end-to-end integration, testing, and issue triage efforts.

  • Use DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, and GitHub to deploy, improve and manage software.

  • Stay current on the latest open-source technology and contribute to the technical direction of the company while keeping a customer-centric approach.

You'll have...

  • B.S. or B.A. in Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • 5+ years of Java development experience.

  • 3+ years of Spring and Spring Boot framework experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with Software Development tools (Backlog Management, Source Code Management such as GitHub, Test Management, CI/CD, etc.).

  • 3+ years of experience with Test Driven Development and Agile Methodologies.

  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure)

Even better, you may have...

  • Exposure to Kotlin Mutliplatform

  • Experience working with messaging service like Pub/sub, Kafka

  • Experience with integrated development tool like Intellij, Eclipse

  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, and GitHub to deploy, improve and manage software

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

  • Passion for learning new development technologies and practices.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
