IFF in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Process Technician to join our fermentation team!
Located at the Genencor Technology Center on the Stanford Research Park, IFF is a leader in the industrial biotechnology sector which develops innovative enzymes and bioproducts to improve the performance and reduce the environmental impact of the cleaning, textiles, animal nutrition, grain processing, and chemical industries. Responsibilities:
Functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the development of our R&D projects by monitoring microbial fermentations in a pilot fermentation lab (500L-3000L vessels).
As part of a team, this person will be responsible for operating and maintaining fermentation bioreactors, monitoring biological processes, and adhering to proper documentation.
Daily lab tasks include media preparation, tank maintenance, troubleshooting, contamination monitoring, stocking lab supplies, and analytical processing to support fermentation operations.
Continuous improvement efforts to improve process safety, increase quality, service levels, efficiency, and reliability.
Job Requirements
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
Experience with biological systems and aseptic techniques is a plus.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer skills required. Experience with computer-based process control systems a plus.
Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting (50lbs).
Ability to wear general lab PPE (boots, safety glasses and gloves).
Ability to conduct work during a set shift structure (Day Shift- 0600-1400, Swing Shift 1400-2200, Graveyard Shift 2200-0600). Ability to work overtime is a plus.
The following are preferred:
A.A./B.S. or a related degree in a scientific or technical field.
2+ years of hands-on lab experience.
Demonstrate strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Strong leadership experience in creating change, coordinating with co-workers/teammates in meeting expectations, and improving work efficiency.
Strong communication skills to create rapport both within and outside of immediate work team to generate smooth workflow and collaboration.
Ability prioritize and troubleshoot issues under pressure.
Ability to learn emergent systems and cope with new environment.
Compensation ($29/hr. -$32/hr.) is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
