Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Human Resources Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals and provide support for the Operations organization. This leadership opportunity is located in Palmdale, CA.

This position has significant leadership contact and requires a candidate with strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and continuous change.

Successful candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Strong communication and executive presence.

  • A depth and breadth of knowledge across all HR functions to include talent acquisition, talent management, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, diversity and inclusion and compensation.

  • Experience working in a matrix organization is a plus

  • Project management, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills, business acumen, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to remain flexible and a progressive thinker with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks from inception to completion in a changing environment.

  • Growth mindset.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners supporting 1,500 employees in Manufacturing

  • Support Operations leadership and acting as a strategic partner and consultant to position the organization to meet long term vision and strategy.

  • Focus on future functional Operations homeroom growth. Strengthening and optimizing the Operations function and will require business acumen, leadership engagement and high levels of emotional intelligence to meet both current and future needs.

  • Influence peers, and all levels of management to include executives.

  • Implement change management practices to shift culture and drive changes in leadership behavior.

  • Establish strong business relationships with client leadership teams and create effective partnerships across HR, centers of excellence (COE’s), business management, sector functions as well as operating divisions.

  • Leadership Development—focus on strong succession planning and strategic leadership movement. Partner with business leaders to build leadership depth to support the succession planning process.

  • Support and enable leaders to make informed decisions about talent and to hold their organizations accountable for business results.

  • Play a key change leadership role in the company’s transformation by creating a culture of growth, innovation and risk taking.

  • Provide day-to-day people leadership of HR team and create an environment that accelerates development of HR talent; apply rigorous knowledge management to capture learning, drive continuous improvement, and enhance employee engagement.

  • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the organization and develop solutions in partnership with HR business partners, division and matrix leadership, and program/division HR business leaders

  • Utilize data and analytics to develop solutions to current business issues as well as proactively engage in risk mitigation.

  • Recommend and implement winning practices employed in the areas of talent acquisition, assessment, development, compensation, organizational effectiveness, strategy, on-boarding, change management and communications.

  • Analyze and concisely present information to the management team to enable good business decisions.

  • Leverage and partner with HR colleagues across other functional disciplines, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, diversity and inclusion and organizational effectiveness to support talent strategies.

  • Provide business insight through data analysis, research, and benchmarking.

  • Role model for leadership characteristics and assist in driving business growth from an organization and talent perspective. Be a diversity champion.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 6 years of HR experience

  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills with the ability to establish strong rapport and credibility as a forward-looking thought leader.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence impact and outcomes at all levels across the business and ability to develop an internal network to gain support for HR best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate cultural and business sensitivities to champion diversity and inclusion, performance, and employee engagement.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, Organization Development, Industrial Psychology, Management, or related field

  • Experience as an HR Manager with HRBPs as direct reports

  • Experience working with a matrix or homeroom environment

  • Current/active DoD Secret clearance

Salary Range: $125,500 - $188,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
