Aerotek Avionics Technician in Palmdale, California

Job Title: Avionics Technician

Job Description

In this role, you will work on cutting-edge technology to further develop new hardware and software, add new capabilities to airborne sensing and weapons systems, and sustain customer fleets. You will be responsible for the entire Unmanned Aircraft System, modifying and configuring aircraft and ground control stations, executing ground tests, and supporting flight test activities, including preflight, mission monitoring, and postflight data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Service, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and maintain aircraft and ground support equipment in support of test operations and sustainment activities.

  • Support test teams for test and development (R&D) efforts.

  • Modify, install, and test electronics and mechanical equipment as part of customer and company modification and test efforts.

  • Correct major and minor discrepancies by removing, repairing, or replacing defective or deleted parts of aircraft electrical and avionics systems as well as ground support systems.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and functional checks on existing, newly installed, and modified aircraft systems and equipment as well as ground support systems.

  • Operate test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair defective parts and perform routine inspections on systems and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot, test, and document findings; repair or replace components based on test results by following technical drawings, schematics, handbooks, engineering documents, customer and company technical manuals, and other technical guidance.

  • Fabricate, upgrade, route, and install wiring harnesses.

  • Support company and customer flight test activities at various locations in support of test objectives, including Flight Engineer duties, launch and recovery efforts, and reporting.

  • Opportunities for cross-training into other disciplines.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Essential Skills

  • Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.

  • US citizenship required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience or 2 years of experience with an applicable degree in Electronics, Computer Technology, or Electronics Engineering.

  • Fixed-wing aircraft experience.

  • Ability to perform a variety of routine tasks and demonstrate full knowledge of avionics and electronic procedures and principles.

  • Ability to troubleshoot at the component level.

  • Full knowledge and use of electronic test equipment, hand and soldering tools, voltage or amperage measuring and recording devices.

  • Knowledge of relevant computer applications, operations, and networking.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical orders.

  • Good analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to work any shift and additional hours as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Candidates with experience with Radar/Satcom and related systems.

  • Candidates with experience with camera/scanning equipment.

  • Candidates with experience on submarine sonar/radar systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Palmdale, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $74880.00 - $79040.00/yr.

General Atomics offers a comprehensive benefits package ( snapshot attached - to pull up go to "Other Related List" section)

Relocation:

2 options ( they get to choose)

Option 1 - is a concierge type service that helps them to find housing, transportation costs, etc. and they are reimbursed the costs they occur.

Option 2 - flat fee that is paid out two weeks prior to their start date.

Bonus program - discretionary bonus based on team and company's performance

Annual merit increases - 5-8%

Opportunity for advancement

Opportunity to eventually the Deployment Team if candidates would like to travel
