Generac Power Systems Senior Power Electronics System Validation Engineer in Pacific Palisades, California

As a Senior Power Electronics System Validation Engineer at Generac Power Systems, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our power electronics systems. Your expertise will be invaluable in verifying compliance with industry standards, with a focus on UL1741SB and related regulations. You will work in a collaborative, high-tech environment and contribute to the success of our innovative energy solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the validation and testing efforts for power electronics systems, ensuring compliance with UL1741SB and other relevant industry standards.

  • Develop and execute validation plans, test cases, and procedures to evaluate the performance, safety, and reliability of power electronics products.

  • Design and oversee experiments, simulations, and bench tests to assess power electronics system functionality and performance under various operating conditions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, firmware developers, and quality assurance teams, to address validation requirements.

  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues identified during testing and propose corrective actions to improve system performance and safety.

  • Maintain detailed records of test results, findings, and validation reports, ensuring traceability and documentation of validation activities.

  • Stay current with evolving industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to power electronics and power conversion systems.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power electronics system validation and testing.

  • Strong knowledge of UL1741SB and relevant industry standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., PSpice, Simulink), data acquisition systems, and laboratory equipment.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results.

  • Familiarity with power electronics components such as inverters, converters, and controllers.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues in a systematic manner.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers to facilitate production and testing processes.

  • Ability to develop and implement a line sampling program for quality control.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
