Klauber Machine & Gear Co Design Engineer -Electromechanical in Pacific, Missouri
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for design engineering of electric gear motor product, new product development and product life cycle management. Responsibilities will include proper motor sizing, testing and development of motors and gear trains considering application demand and customer provided engineering specifications. Also responsible for development of electric motor suppliers and communication of detailed customer specifications to facilitate the design of custom electric motors for geared commercial applications.
General Responsibilities:
Design and develop new gear motor and electric motor product based on market demand and OEM customer request
Provide engineering project management from concept to completion in collaboration with the product introduction team including operations, purchasing, and outside supplied electric motor resources
Demonstrate proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings
Create outline and manufacturing drawings, conduct ECN / ECR review, develop operation sheets and develop BOMs for electric gear motor and motor only projects
Support supplier design and development of AC and DC fractional HP electric motor variants per application specification
Support customers, provide technical support to operations and sales, and participate in supplier communication
Perform engineering testing of electric motors with measurement gages, multi-meters, dynamometers, etc.
Perform DFMEA/PFEMA for NPI and support quality with corrective actions and 8D reports
Follow design standards (UL, CSA, IP ratings etc.) utilized for product development as per the latest industry standards
Oversee electric motor qualification test plan development and management
Travel limited to suppliers, customers, or other locations. (0%-10%)
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
Perform other duties as assigned
