Maintenance Mechanic – Pace, FL
Eastman’s Pace site is located in the northwest corner of the Florida Panhandle. The Pace site produces a range of amines products that are used in the food, feed and agriculture markets. Maintenance Mechanics are part of a team responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the plant. Safety is our #1 priority and we are committed to having a Zero Incident Mindset. The Maintenance Mechanic is a day position that generally works Mon-Thurs, 10 hours per day, with overtime as needed. There is a requirement for on-call duty rotation during weekends and holidays.
Below are the primary responsibilities. The role may involve additional responsibilities as required or assigned. Relocation is not offered for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
Safely perform industrial mechanic work as required, including construction, repairs, maintenance, installation, modification, inspections, & troubleshooting of rotating equipment
Work will be performed on pumps, blowers, compressors, bearings, valves, heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, hydraulic systems, boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, machine shop tools and other industrial equipment.
Take precision measurements including laser alignment
Review and follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices
Actively participate in all Health, Safety, Environmental and Security training, policies, and programs
Use of SAP Plant Maintenance Module for documenting maintenance work
Complete assigned work safely and per Eastman timeline and standards, identifying any deviations and providing input on areas for improvement
Must have a good understanding of internal customer service and a sense of urgency
Collaborate well with other individuals both inside and outside the Maintenance department to ensure the success of site operations
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates with a degree or certificate in a maintenance related field or who have equivalent industrial/military experience are strongly preferred.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience performing maintenance of mechanical equipment in an industrial (not commercial) facility is required. Experience in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing facility is a plus.
Qualification as a mobile crane operator (less than 17 tons) is a plus
Required Qualifications
MUST HAVE A ZERO-INCIDENT MINDSET
Strong mechanical aptitude with trouble-shooting ability
Understand and be proficient at taking precision measurements, including precision laser alignment
Working knowledge of drawings and P&IDs
Must exhibit a strong work ethic, be dependable, and show initiative and ownership
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing
Flexibility in approach to task and openness to change
Must have PC skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience in SAP is a plus
Physical Requirements
Work outdoors, year-round, in all types of weather conditions
Work at elevated heights including columns up to 100 ft
Must have eye-hand coordination, use of both hands for gripping and twisting, mobility in climbing steps and ladders, working in confined spaces, squatting, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pushing/pulling
Must be able to pass a physical (including drug test) and wear a respirator.
Ability to serve on plant Emergency Services Team, if needed
