Granville Medical Center OBGYN Physician in Oxford, North Carolina

Position Summary

The OBGYN physician provides comprehensive care for women, including routine check-ups, preventive care, and management of complex medical conditions related to the female reproductive system. The role involves delivering babies, performing surgery, and offering counseling and support to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:

  • C onduct routine and specialized exams to assess women’s reproductive health.

  • Manage and monitor pregnancies, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care.

  • Diagnose and treat gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, infertility, and pelvic pain.

  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medications, lifestyle changes, and surgical interventions.

  • Surgical Procedures:

  • P erforming gynecological surgery, including hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and other minimally invasive procedures.

  • Conduct deliveries, including vaginal births and cesarean sections.

  • Manage surgical complications and postoperative care.

  • Patient Counseling and Education:

  • Provide education on sexual and reproductive health, contraception, menopause, and other relevant topics.

  • Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.

  • Address patient concerns and answer questions regarding health conditions and treatment options .

  • Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, and specialists to provide integrated care.

  • Coordinate with hospital staff and other departments for the management of complex cases.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.

  • Professional Development:

  • Stay current with medical research, best practices, and advances in obstetrics and gynecology.

  • Attend continuing education courses, workshops, and conferences.

  • Participate in professional organizations and committees.

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

  • Manage patient schedules and oversee administrative tasks related to patient care.

  • Handle billing and documentation related to procedures and treatments.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.

  • Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in the state of North Carolina

  • Board Certification: Certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG)

  • Other Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

    Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Clinic and Hospital

  • Hours:

  • Clinic Hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)

  • Rotating Hospital Call, which may include evening and weekend shifts, and extended hours, particularly for deliveries and emergencies.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle the physical demands of performing surgery, delivering babies, and working long hours.
